Museo de las Americas

-underway

(in collaboration with Roto Architects)

The Museo de las Americas is a phased expansion of an existing 20,228sf museum building into a 76,729sf facility located between Santa Fe Drive and Kalamath Street in Denver, Colorado. The museum's mission of featuring the art and culture of the Latino people of the Americas is further grounded in the architecture through reference to indigenous building practices of celestial anchoring and masonry corbeling. The Santa Fe Drive facade is developed to reveal relationships to key solar phenomena at equinox and solstice through the layered articulation of four corbeled masonry walls. Master planning and preliminary facade design are completed and Museo (phase) 1 is scheduled for design in 2002.
